For a Germany that is Open to the World
The state universities united in the State University Conference of Lower Saxony (LHK) stand for a diverse and cosmopolitan Germany that is underscored by the values of our constitution. Ethnocentric and dehumanizing views, extremism, anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim racism and racism of any kind, intolerance and exclusion as well as discriminätion and hate speech are accorded no place in our worldview. We stress the fundamental importance of liberal democracy, the rule of law, safety, freedom of expression, and academic freedom for universities and society at large. This year, the University of Osnabrück is honoring the 75th anniversary of the German Basic Law as part of the Osnabrück Peace Forum, which this year highlight key aspects of our liberal, democratic society. The next event takes place on November 27, 2024, and deals with the subject "The end of the Enlightenment? Science between skepticism and enslavement".
